Botanical Nerd Word: Cruciate

Cruciate (cruciform):  Cross-shaped, used especially of the flowers of the Brassicaceae family.*

The 4-petalled flowers of Brassicaceae (mustard family) plants, such as this dame’s rocket (Hesperis matronalis) are characteristically arranged in a cross shape.
