Plant Lovers Fund
Toronto Botanical Garden’s Plant Lovers Fund allows families to honour a loved one, celebrate a special occasion or memorialize a friend. The plants and trees are located within Toronto Botanical Garden for you to enjoy year round. Your honoree’s name will be listed in our Plant Lovers Fund Commemoration Book located in the Weston Family Library. Each dollar raised supports the nurturing and care needed for these special plants and all donations are fully tax receipt-able to the donor. We have a wide variety of plants that are available for dedication, such as:
Trees (starting at $2500) – We have a wide range of trees such as Eastern Redbud, Tri Colour Beech, Weeping White Pine, and many more. The trees in Toronto Botanical Garden are very special as they are hand selected to become a unique and intimate part of each of the 17 gardens. The trees are dedicated in perpetuity*. The honoree’s name will be listed in the Plant Lovers Fund Commemoration Book and a plaque will be placed in front of the tree with your dedication.
Plants (various) – The spectacular gardens at Toronto Botanical Garden have a wide range of plants to suit any occasion or person. Some of our most popular plants include Peonies, Clematis, and Roses. The dedicated funds will go to the care and maintenance of the plant in the gardens. The plants are dedicated for the duration of their natural life time at the TBG, and the honoree’s name will be listed in the Plant Lovers Fund Commemoration Book. For donations of $1500 or more towards a specific plant or shrub currently in the garden, this plant will also be dedicated in perpetuity*, and they are marked individually with a plaque featuring your special dedication to the honoree.
Benches & Bricks
Commemorative Benches ($5000) – These lovely wooden benches situated throughout Toronto Botanical Garden can be dedicated in perpetuity* of the loved one. They offer visitors intimate and reflective views of the gardens and will include a plaque to be placed on the bench with a personal message about the loved one. The space available is up to maximum of 120 characters, including spacing and punctuation.
Commemorative Bricks ($500 – $2500) – These engraved bricks are located in the Teaching Garden at Toronto Botanical Garden, and help to form the pathway where thousands of children come each year to learn about nature, gardening and the environment. Your donation goes to support the Teaching Garden and maintaining this outdoor classroom. There are 3 different sizes of bricks 8”x 4”, 8”x 8”, and 8”x 9”.
Weston Family Library
The Weston Family Library is the largest private horticultural library in Canada. Here we inspire urban gardeners of all ages with an incredible wealth of reference material, weekly children’s story-time programs, and much more. Through the support of donors, we are able to expand our collection and resources. A donation to the Weston Family Library will be recognized with a personalized book plate commemorating your loved one. The book plate will be placed in a specially selected book by the Library; the choice of book would then be approved by the donor.
