Grade 3: Growing Under Glass (for priority schools)

Growing Under Glass is a free, curriculum-based field trip program offered to grade 3 classes from high priority neighbourhoods in Toronto at the Allan Gardens Children’s Conservatory from November through February. This curriculum-linked soil and plant program features immersive, hands-on learning. Students meet decomposers, plant a cutting to take back to school and tour the five greenhouses. Transportation is included.

TDSB classes are eligible to book if their school falls between 1-100 on the most recent Learning Opportunity Index. TCDSB classes are eligible to book if their school has been identified as high needs by the Catholic School Board.

Growing Under Glass runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Tuesdays to Fridays. The 2017-2018 season begins November 7 and ends February 23. TBG is currently taking names for the waiting list for dates in January and February. Classes will be booked on a first come, first served basis, so long as they are eligible for the program.

Allan Gardens is located at 19 Horticultural Avenue, on the south side of Carlton Street between Jarvis and Sherbourne Streets.
