Artworks by Lana Hovinga

 July 2 to September 27, 2019

This series of large-scale acrylic and ink paintings takes its inspiration from the natural world and is informed by the artist’s unique perspective as a landscape designer. Each new work examines a plant in bold colours. Our native Slipper Orchid, common Tiger Lily and even the humble Thistle take on a fresh focus when enlarged and seen close up. Lana lives and works in Kitchener.

ZimSculpt ZimSculpt

Back for its second year, the outdoor art exhibition “ZimSculpt” showcases hundreds of stone sculptures by many of Zimbabwe’s most renowned contemporary artists. Admission is free and all sculptures are available for purchase. The exhibition runs from June through September 2019.

The works are chiseled, hand-carved, sanded and polished by artists who draw upon a wide variety of inspiration. From dramatic modern styling praised by Henry Moore, to more contemplative “village” pieces that capture African life, these sculptures project a vibrancy that has captivated audiences around the world. The setting of Toronto’s most beautiful garden for this great art highlights the beauty of both.

Exhibition EXTENDED from June 28 – September 22, 2019.
