TBG Writers Club: Walking the Path

Join this online writing development class which includes a ground tour of TBG to inspire your creative pieces. A Ground Tour and Writing Development Class. To complete a piece, or small collection, of writing takes time and patience—the very things any true to the soil gardener tell us we need for their committed craft. Yet, releasing ink rapidly onto the page can be as pleasurable as an early-spring planting spree. This class feeds the need for writers to ink-out with in-class word-prompt exercises and nurtures the know-how required to increase the skill of longevity and care that writers require to thrive.

Saturday, April 16, 10 to 11:30 a.m. – TBG Tour on-site at Toronto Botanical Garden
Wednesdays, April 20 through May 11, 7 – 8:30 p.m.  – Online Writers Club
Public $120, TBG Member or Volunteer $95 (plus fees + HST)

Expectations and Experience:

• one tour of the Toronto Botanical Garden, scheduled for Saturday, April 16, 10:00 – 11:30 a.m.
• a selection of writing topics and note-taking tips provided in advance of the tour
• TBG-inspired reflections and lessons
• writing lessons, support, and encouragement

You will write:

• several short, word-prompt pieces based on the TBG, in-class
• one long-project piece, developed, with lessons, over the four-week period
  (e.g., up to 1,500-word CNF essay, short fiction, journalism/report, historical, 1-10 poems)

All writing levels and genres are welcome.

About Stacey Curtis

Stacey Curtis has been penning and planting since before the double-digits of childhood. While the garden provided a way of being out, helping mom, and watching cucumbers climb, the pen provided a way of being in, helping herself understand the world transpiring before her. She has worked for twenty years as a professional editor and author. She enjoys inspiring wild expression so that people might write as unbridled as nature itself to break through the tough soil. She is equally passionate about providing professional tools and insight to shape the hard work of writers like a pruned and tended garden.
