TBG receives Community Building Fund Grant

On Tuesday, October 5 Lisa McLeod, Minister of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Cultural Industries, held a press conference at Toronto Botanical Garden where she announced that TBG will receive a $247,400 grant. The Ontario government is providing more than $46 million to support 648 non-profit tourism, culture, sport and recreation organizations through its “Community Building Fund”. The funding will be used to help non-profits recover from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and deliver much-needed programs and services in their communities.

Harry Jongerden, TBG Interim Executive Director, expressed the garden’s deep gratitude for this significant support from the Ontario government. This needed funding, along with the ongoing support of our donors and members, will help sustain our organization through an unprecedented and difficult time, allowing us to continue offering valuable programs and services to our community. Harry stressed that the pandemic may have had a devastating effect on our revenues, but the physical and mental health benefits of exposure to nature have never been better understood or appreciated.
