About Lee Ouimette
Lee Ouimette is a member of Adele’s Bear Band, Robinson Huron Treaty of 1850. Lee learned the art of beading as a child from a healer in the Grand River community. Lee loves to teach the art of leatherwork and beadwork because it is a form of Medicine to her, allowing her to continue to pass on her knowledge and ensure the next generation has the chance to access traditional ways of knowing and being.
Lee holds a B.A. in paralegal studies. Lee published an article through Humber College in 2019 titled “Education and Indigenous Access to Justice.” Lee’s Indigenous Boutique began operations in 2020 after the Pandemic shut down the Pow Wow Trail, leaving the family business and launching an exclusive beadwork & medicine website. In 2022, Lee expanded her business and now offers catering for private events. The limited menu showcases traditional compote and post-colonial indigenous foods.
