Floral Design Program: Special Occasion Flowers

Learn how to design and create your own spectacular bouquets, centerpieces, and more!

Create floral designs for special occasions such as heart-shaped bouquets for Valentine’s day, boutonnieres, corsages, centerpieces for weddings, and cake toppers for birthdays, graduations, and anniversaries.

Course fees do not include flowers or supplies. Students are encouraged to find a local flower shop or grocery store to purchase their flowers. A materials list will be e-mailed prior to the start of each class.

Prerequisites: Classic Design Fundamentals I & II.

Program Schedule: Wednesdays, March 4, 11, 18, 25 from 6:00-9:00 PM. Snow date: Thursday, March 2.

Registration: Public $240, Members $190 (plus applicable taxes and fees)

Registration deadline: Friday, February 27, 2026 at 12:00 PM.

About Margaret Taylor

For 25 years, Margaret’s passion for flowers has led her to exhibit, judge, demonstrate and teach floral design in Canada and abroad. A recipient of many awards, Margaret’s accolades include three Canada Blooms’ Founder’s Gold Cups for Best in Show. Margaret has also won Best in Show on three occasions at the provincial triennial show and as a result, has been chosen to represent Canada in two world shows. It was her greatest honour to exhibit for Canada both in Boston and in India.

Margaret is currently a floral design judge accredited by the Garden Clubs of Ontario, a horticultural judge accredited by the Royal Botanical Gardens and a rose judge accredited by the Canadian Rose Society. Margaret is also a Sogetsu Ikebana teacher and exhibitor. She is the current Director of the Toronto Sogetsu Chapter and on the board of the Japanese Garden Club as the Ikebana Coordinator. Much lauded for her design acumen by the horticultural community, she is a past president of the Garden Club of Toronto and is a coordinator of floral design studies at Toronto Botanical Garden.
