Thursday, November 29, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.
The TBG’s annual Holiday Open House is always a lively, fun-filled evening. Mix and mingle while you enjoy complimentary cider and shortbread, say hello to old friends, and admire the festive displays. Then choose from a wide array of unique and beautiful gifts at Garden Shop, pick up some fresh greens and winter container liners–ready to pop right into your outdoor urns–and save 30 per cent off hanging tree ornaments. There is also free gift wrapping available and a used book sale in the library.
For one night only, TBG members can take advantage of a special 20 per cent discount on many items in the shop—remember to have your membership card handy, please. And why not make it a real night out, and treat yourself to an inexpensive light supper by Sequel catering.
Then, at 7:30 in the Floral Hall, you won’t want to miss the Holiday Container-Off, a friendly design competition featuring the talents of our own irrepressible Nancy Eaton Director of Horticulture, Paul Zammit, along with witty and charming well-known horticulturist and media personality Denis Flanagan and innovative designer Nicole North of Petals, Stems and Leaves. This terrific trio will design up a container storm in our Floral Hall, and you can be sure there will be plenty of instructive and hilarious commentary as well. Best of all, four lucky members in the audience will go home with these creations, which can simply be popped into outdoor urns.
TBG members, free and Members may bring up to two non-member guests for just $10 each. General admission, $25; students $15.
One of the favourite annual highlights of the TBG’s Open House has become the Holiday Wreath Silent Auction. Proceeds benefit the TBG’s programs and activities, and a dozen lucky bidders will go home with a stunning, one-of-a-kind holiday wreath ready to hang on their door. This year we have invited a number of partners and horticultural organizations and clubs to participate in this event. Their wreaths will be displayed in the TBG lobby from Tuesday, November 27. Don’t miss all the fun and come and support your favourites by placing a bid for a good cause: the TBG! Thanks to everyone who volunteered to participate!
