(Toronto, September) The Toronto Botanical Garden (TBG) welcomes you to our fun-filled Holiday Open House—a festive tradition. Shoppers will have the opportunity to choose from a wide assortment of unique gifts for the discerning gardeners, nature-lovers, and even children on their list. Our gift shop is bursting with innovative ideas, including a broad selection of eco-minded products. There are plenty of attractive and inexpensive hostess gifts and décor accents as well. TBG members enjoy a 20 per cent discount in Shop TBG, and others are encouraged to take out a membership on the spot! And, that evening only, why not take advantage of our free gift wrapping and cross off another chore on your “to do” list?
While you’re saving time, be sure to treat yourself to one of our popular winter urn liners, made with fresh greens and decorated for the season. For instant “wow,” all you have to do is select your favourite and drop it into your urn! Job done. This special evening also includes a silent auction of one-of-a-kind gorgeous fresh wreaths. Then relax and toast the season with a complimentary cup of warm cider and shortbread, or purchase an inexpensive light dinner.
Afterwards, you will be just in time to take a load off your feet and catch the final TBG Lecture of the calendar year at 7:30 p.m. in the TBG Floral Hall. Start your holiday season right and join our personable and charming Nancy Eaton Director of Horticulture, Paul Zammit, as he takes on the dynamic Nicole North of Petals, Stems & Leaves and hilarious horticultural heavyweight Denis Flanagan in the ultimate “Winter Container-Off!” Not only will you learn about great style and design ideas for your own holiday containers, but at the end of the evening, lucky winners in the audience will take these arrangements home.
