Terrific Thursdays: Free Outdoor Concerts and More

Awaken all your senses this summer on “Terrific Thursdays” at the Toronto Botanical Garden (TBG). Now in its fourth year, the Edwards Summer Music Series: Gardens of Song offers FREE open-air concerts during July and August, featuring an eclectic roster of popular artists. There is also an Organic Farmers’ Market (2 to 7 p.m.) and FREE guided tours of the gardens (6 to 7 p.m.). In addition, the Garden Shop and the Garden Café will be open late on concert evenings. Bring the family for local dining at the Market and Café, or free kids drop-in activities in the children’s centre (5:30 to 7 p.m.). Be sure to browse the Shop for gardening and décor ideas. You can even rent hand held audio tours ($5) for your own personal tour of the gardens.

Garden Café

Before the lively performances, pick up a delicious light supper at the TBG Garden Café, housed in the historic barn near the vegetable garden. Come early to find your spot on the Garden Café patio which overlooks the new concert venue. The Café will be serving a farm-fresh supper menu along with local wine and craft beer. FREE Guided Tours
You can also take part in a FREE guided tour of the gardens Tuesday at 10 a.m. or Thursdays at 6 p.m. Rent one of our handheld audio tours from the shop ($5) for your own personal tour of the gardens. These informative and engaging tours will give you a bit of history and practical information about the TBG’s 17 contemporary gardens. The tours are enthusiastically narrated by Canadian garden celebrities including Sonia Day, Charlie Dobbin, Denis Flanagan, Marjorie Harris and Paul Zammit. Read on…
