Celebrate Canada’s Inaugural ‘Garden Day’
June 14 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Public gardens in communities across the country will be in the spotlight during Canada’s inaugural Garden Day on June 14, 2013 – the Friday before Father’s Day.
IN TORONTO: ESCAPE TO YOUR FREE OASIS IN THE CITY
Have you ever wanted to know more about the inspiration behind the Toronto Botanical Garden’s 17 contemporary gardens . Here’s your chance to find out. On Canada’s Garden Day (Friday, June 14, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) the TBG’s new handheld audio tours will be FREE ($5 Value).
These audio tours are easy to use and can be done at your own pace by following a map and/or signs placed in the garden. Just punch in the corresponding number on the device’s keypad and off you go on your own private tour of the gardens enthusiastically narrated by Sonia Day, Charlie Dobbins, Denis Flanagan, Frankie Flowers, Marjorie Harris and Paul Zammit.
Liz Hood, the Director of Education and TBG urban beekeeper will be offering Honey Tastings –from buckwheat to blueberry– just outside the shop between 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
BONUS: We’ll also be extending our membership benefits to the public for one day only. You’ll receive a 10 per cent discount in our boutique garden shop (shopTBG) and at the Garden Cafe (on select items). Free copies of Trellis, our members magazine, will also given out (while supplies last).
