PAUL ZAMMIT

Toronto Botanical Garden is pleased to announce the hiring of Paul Zammit as its new Director of Horticulture commencing March 1, 2009. Zammit succeeds veteran horticulturist, Cathie Cox, who was instrumental in the conception, development and installation of the newly developed gardens. Zammit will be responsible for the management and future direction of the gardens and plant collections, along with spearheading the organizations strength in delivering exceptional gardening education to the public.

"His extensive plant knowledge, boundless enthusiasm and connections within the gardening world will help us realize our potential as one of Toronto's emerging and important cultural institutions."

Paul Zammit is a well-known, passionate plantsman with almost 20 years experience in the industry. He lectures and teaches both in Canada and the US, sharing his love for gardening and educating others on this rewarding activity. Among his many accomplishments, Zammit has been the Canadian Regional Director of the Perennial Plant Association (PPA) since 2003 and has been awarded the young professional award. Recently he left his position as the Perennial Plant Manager at Plant World Ltd in Toronto. Zammit, and his wife Uli's award-winning home garden has been featured in a numerous magazines and local garden tours. In addition, his creative container designs have appeared on television and in magazines including features in Gardening Life and Canadian Gardening.
